My name is Jon S Williams and I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Melbourne. I was born in Launceston February 26, 1965. I spent my childhood in St Kilda and Hobart, my teenage years in Canberra, New Haven and Dallas before moving back to Melbourne in 1984. I’ve been in Melbourne ever since, apart from a stint in Texas in 1987. I wrote my 1st song on my 1st guitar when I was 16.
Heavy Meditation is a culmination of reconnections and consolidations. Recorded at SoundPark with the full band live on Wednesday 20 January 2016. Idge (Engineer/Drums) and I then added further instrumentation and vocals the next day, followed by 2 mixing sessions. Mastered with Finn Keane at HeadGap. This is the 1st time I have played and recorded together with both Jeremy Gronow (Guitar) and Andy Papadopoulos (Bass) since we played in a band together in 1988; a real delight. I’ve been recording with Idge for 10 years, and this was another chance to rehearse, demo, rearrange, pre- and co-produce and spend creative time in the studio together. It was wonderful to get the driving energy of Mark McCartney (Guitar) on-board, as well as David Storen (Guitar) to further explode the sound. Idge’s brother John worked the tape machine on the day of recording and Daniel Cachia filmed it. Raja Gupta provided the artwork. I wrote all the songs except for: Poor Ned (Trevor Lucas). www.jonswilliams.org
